Atsuki Maeda, DAOM
The Traditional Japanese Acupuncture program kicks off with Atsuki Maeda, delving into the rich history and foundational principles of Japanese Acupuncture. This practice is deeply rooted in classical texts such as the Su Wen, Ling Shu, and Nan Jing, and has evolved under various cultural influences. Traditional Chinese medicine, shaped by Daoist and Confucian concepts, arrived in Japan over 1500 years ago, where it was significantly transformed by the indigenous beliefs of Shintoism and Buddhism.
Through this course, students will gain a profound understanding of the essence of Traditional Japanese Medicine, exploring the underlying mindset that informs its practices. The Japanese approach emphasizes respect and gentleness, which is reflected in the techniques of palpation and needling. Atsuki Maeda will also introduce participants to the diversity of Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion, offering a comprehensive overview of Traditional Japanese Medicine.
